Rio Rancho had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Volcano Vista on Friday. The Rams blew past the Hawks 11-2. Considering the Rams have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was Rio Rancho's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Volcano Vista, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
