Carson O'Brien was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Brady Boone was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Clinton Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Rossville posted their closest victory since May 20, 2024 on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Noblesville 5-4.
Zac Wainscott made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wainscott wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Britt, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Rossville pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Clinton Central, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clinton Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rossville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
