The Avon Park Red Devils will square off against the Okeechobee Brahmans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Avon Park's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Okeechobee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Avon Park's offense. They fell just short of Martin County by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Red Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Avon Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Pritchett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double. That double marked the first that Pritchett has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Okeechobee waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Gators by a score of 7-3. With that win, the Brahmans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Mason Kindell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ian Liscomb, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kylar Koedam was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.
Avon Park's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Okeechobee, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Avon Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Okeechobee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Avon Park couldn't quite get it done against Okeechobee when the teams last played back in February of 2025 as they fell 8-3. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
