The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas lost against the Spruce Creek Hawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. New Smyrna Beach fell just short of Spruce Creek by a score of 45-43. New Smyrna Beach has not had much luck with Spruce Creek recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Barracudas players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hailee Mokwe, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds. Corrin Austell was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
New Smyrna Beach now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Spruce Creek, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Smyrna Beach will take on University at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday. As for Spruce Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Cocoa at 7:30 p.m. Cocoa will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
