The Ravenscroft Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Durham Academy Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ravenscroft will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Ravenscroft was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cary Academy on Tuesday. The Ravens put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 19-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Ravens as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Audriana Gaught made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Gaught was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Ravenscroft let Macie Mackinnon and Cole MacKinnon run wild. Mackinnon went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while MacKinnon went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Mackinnon continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Jesi Porfirio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Ravenscroft always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Durham Academy was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell 4-1 to North Raleigh Christian Academy. The Cavaliers' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Charlotte Gunsch made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one triple.
Durham Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Ravenscroft, their record now sits at 3-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ravenscroft has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Durham Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ravenscroft couldn't quite finish off Durham Academy when the teams last played on Friday and fell 12-10. Can the Ravens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
