The Webster Groves Statesmen fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Farmington Knights on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Knights 22-16. Webster Groves has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brett Drye looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 120 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 152 yards and a touchdown. Drye was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards. Farmington also got a significant boost from Kaesen Mcclain, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Webster Groves has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Farmington, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webster Groves will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Kirkwood at 12:00 p.m. on November 23rd. Kirkwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Webster Groves in Missouri (Kirkwood is ranked 28th, while Webster Groves is ranked 177th). As for Farmington, they will head out on the road to face off against Poplar Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poplar Bluff and Farmington are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
