The Groves Rebels pushed their score all the way to 70 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 78-70 to Savannah Country Day. Groves was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Groves lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyrone Chisholm, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and five steals. It was the first time this season that Chisholm posted eight or more assists. Sidney Flaggs was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Savannah Country Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rudy Anderson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Robert Spaulding iv, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Groves' loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Savannah Country Day, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.
Groves won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Savannah Country Day, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Tide at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Long County is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
