The Madison Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Central City Bison at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Madison is hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses.
On January 6th, Madison greeted the New Year with with a 48-30 victory over Twin River.
Madison found their leader in underclassman Salena Duinkerken, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Wedy Atanacio, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Central City waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They secured a 43-38 W over Wood River. That's two games straight that Central City has won by exactly five points.
Central City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addie Buhlke, who scored 14 points. Jerzie Schindler was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Madison's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Central City, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Madison have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Central City, though, as they've been averaging only 23.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Madison might still be hurting after the 43-19 loss they got from Central City in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Madison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
