Casteel hasn't had much luck against Hamilton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Colts will venture away from home to face off against the Huskies at 3:45 p.m. Casteel will be strutting in after a victory while Hamilton will be coming in after a defeat.
Casteel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over Notre Dame Prep on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Colts considering their one-run performance the game before.
Ella Guttierrez made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, ADDISON RAMSEY was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaedyn Carillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Casteel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame Prep only posted an OBP of .417.
Meanwhile, Hamilton faced Desert Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Huskies took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder.
Amanda Benites was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Taylor Hampton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Casteel is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hamilton, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Casteel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Hamilton struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Casteel might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Hamilton in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
