The Mitchell Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Fairley Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mitchell sitting on nine straight wins and Fairley on three.
Last Thursday, Mitchell got themselves on the board against Fayette Ware, but Fayette Ware never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 36-0 win over the Wildcats at home. The result was nothing new for Mitchell, who have now won eight games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Mitchell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kevonta Rodgers, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Quinton Osby was in the mix too, providing Mitchell with two touchdowns.
Mitchell's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Martavion Pratcher and Kenderrius Robertson who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Fairley put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Overton 38-0 on the road.
Mitchell's win was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Fayette Ware and 1-9 King Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 26.5% over those games). As for Fairley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Mitchell was taken down by Fairley 60-6 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Mitchell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
