The Calhoun Yellow Jackets pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Allatoona. Calhoun has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Calhoun's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emaree Winston, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Winston hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Streete, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Allatoona, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun and Cartersville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Cartersville is ranked 320th, while Calhoun is ranked 331st). As for Allatoona, they will head out on the road to take on Rome at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
