The Triton Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Manchester Squires at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Manchester took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Triton, who comes in off a win.
Triton took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They breezed past South Bend Career Academy to the tune of 58-19. The game marked the Trojans' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Triton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Savannah Hawley led the charge by putting up 15 points and five rebounds. Avery Viers also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Triton was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Meanwhile, Manchester ended up a good deal behind Oak Hill on Saturday and lost 43-29. The Squires haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Triton will need to focus on slowing down Emma Walker, one of several Manchester players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Allie Egolf, who scored eight points and six rebounds.
Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Triton, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Triton has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34 boards per game. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Triton was dealt a bruising 65-37 defeat at the hands of Manchester when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Walker, who shot 69% from the field to rack up 28 points in addition to six steals and five boards.
