Wendover is 4-0 against Manila since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Wendover Wildcats will be playing at home against the Manila Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Wendover is ranked 62nd, while Manila is ranked 65th).
Last Saturday, Wendover came up short against Tabiona and fell 38-25. Wendover has struggled against Tabiona recently, as their game on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Wendover saw an underclassman step up: Millie Hicks dropped a double-double on 13 points and 23 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaby Delgadillo, who scored four points along with six blocks and two steals.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Manila over Tintic in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Manila blew Tintic out of the water with a 47-20 final score. Manila pushed the score to 39-18 by the end of the third, a deficit Tintic had little chance of recovering from.
Wendover's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Manila, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Everything went Wendover's way against Manila when the teams last played back in January as Wendover made off with a 53-28 win. Does Wendover have another victory up their sleeve, or will Manila turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
