Kearney put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were fully in charge, breezing past Winnetonka 49-13. Kearney have a history of success against Winnetonka, winning their last head-to-head 49-13.
Kearney's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 42 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Winnetonka couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 42-0 heading into the break. Kearney were outperformed in the second half 7-13 but had enough in reserve to walk away with the win.
No one put up better numbers for Kearney than senior Patrick Connery, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior Jacob Stevens was in the mix, too, providing Kearney with 2 touchdowns. The match pushed Winnetonka down to 1-3 and pulled Kearney up to the reverse at 3-1.
Kearney will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Grandview. Grandview also lit up the scoreboard in their last contest, so this could be a high-scoring contest. Winnetonka will stay at home against Grain Valley at 7:00 PM.
