Even though the Oak Grove Grizzlies scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, the Trinity Bulldogs still came out on top. Trinity walked away with a 76-67 win over Oak Grove. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Trinity.
Dominic Payne was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The match was Payne's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Campbell, who scored 13 points.
Oak Grove lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Loucas Shoaf, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Tristan Nunez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists.
Oak Grove struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Trinity has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Oak Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity will challenge Southwestern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oak Grove, they will head out on the road to face off against Randleman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Randleman will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
