Clearwater Valley is 2-8 against Potlatch since April of 2024 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Rams will square off against the Loggers at 1:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clearwater Valley comes in on four and Potlatch on eight.
Clearwater Valley took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Kendrick, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Tigers 7-5.
Harvey Wellard was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tovin Lundgren, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Potlatch was able to grind out a solid win over Prairie on Friday, taking the game 6-2.
Connor Carpenter made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Magallon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Brenton Breeze was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
Clearwater Valley's record now sits at 16-7. As for Potlatch, their record is now 19-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clearwater Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Potlatch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Clearwater Valley skirted past Potlatch 3-2 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
