Dougherty Valley hasn't had much luck against San Ramon Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dougherty Valley Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the San Ramon Valley Wolves at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Dougherty Valley 3.6, San Ramon Valley 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Dougherty Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Washington on Monday as Dougherty Valley made off with a 16-3 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 13 runs or more this season.

Katie Osborn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Laura Osborn was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Marisa Rhee, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Dougherty Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted an OBP of .208.
Meanwhile, San Ramon Valley fell victim to Carondelet and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. That makes it the first time this season the Wolves have let down their home crowd.
Lila McLeod spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
The victory made it two in a row for Dougherty Valley and bumps their season record up to 4-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing seven strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.33 in the others. As for San Ramon Valley, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1-1.
San Ramon Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dougherty Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. It's a different story for San Ramon Valley, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Dougherty Valley's hitters?
Dougherty Valley suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to San Ramon Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Dougherty Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
