The Harvard Ellis Tech Eagles will head out to take on the Windham RVT Mighty Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Harvard Ellis Tech knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Windham RVT likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Harvard Ellis Tech made easy work of New London and carried off a 20-9 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three games by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Rose Lopez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Harvard Ellis Tech got a massive performance out of Emma Ethier, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Cardyn Feen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Harvard Ellis Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Windham RVT hadn't done well against Bolton recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Mighty Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Bulldogs.
The team relied heavily on Genna Sargent, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Madisen Yanez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Harvard Ellis Tech is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Windham RVT, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Harvard Ellis Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .550. However, it's not like Windham RVT struggles in that department as they've averaged .528. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Harvard Ellis Tech skirted past Windham RVT 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
