The Meadowdale Mavericks will challenge the Everett Seagulls at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Everett took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Meadowdale, who comes in off a win.
Meadowdale is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Cascade with a sharp 11-3 win on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mavericks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Daniel Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Smith was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Meadowdale got a massive performance out of Tristan Dodds, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Dodds has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Anthony Scholl, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meadowdale hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cascade struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Everett's offense. They fell 4-0 to Monroe on Wednesday. Considering the last time the Seagulls couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Meadowdale's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Everett, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.
Meadowdale's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Mavericks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Everett, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Meadowdale continue to outrun the ball?
Meadowdale came up short against Everett in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, falling 8-4. Will the Mavericks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
