If the Wisdom Generals were feeling good off their 61-31 takedown of the KIPP Generations Collegiate Jaguars last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wisdom had to suffer through a rough 79-34 loss at the hands of Madison. While losing is never fun, Wisdom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1587th, while Madison is ranked 437th).
Devean Newton was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven steals and six assists for Madison. Newton hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Anthony Avalos, who scored 13 points along with nine steals and three blocks.
Wisdom's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Madison, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Wisdom will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Forest on January 4, 2024. Madison won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st. Washington will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
