The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westover, who took down 71st ranked Monroe, 17-14. T.J. Cromer threw for 179 yards and one touchdown and ran for eight yards in the win.
Americus-Sumter was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to first in AAAA Region 1. The Panthers beat Albany 43-0 earlier in the week.
The Patriots' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Dalviness Greene chipped in 86 yards. T.J. Wester helped Westover's passing attack out by catching three balls for 41 yards.
Quintavious Moran was the best wideout in the league this week as Westover bested the Tornadoes. Moran racked up two receptions for 46 yards.
Westover's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cromer has thrown for 619 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Jaquri Shingles has nine catches for 105 yards. Greene leads the league in rushing with 406 yards.
A big matchup in AAAA Region 1 this week will be when Worth County takes on Americus-Sumter. The Rams are currently in third, while the Panthers are in first.
Americus-Sumter took down the Indians 43-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
