Given Boylan Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Kaneland is ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Lilian Esparza, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was her 14th in a row with at least ten points. Alayna Petalber was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Boylan Catholic pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.36 points. As for Kaneland, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Boylan Catholic will finish 2023 at home by hosting Orangeville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Orangeville will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Kaneland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Marian Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on December 27th. Marian Central Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
