Fairfield Prep has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. After each having a week off, the Fairfield Prep Jesuits and the Notre Dame Green Knights will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Fairfield Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Notre Dame will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Fairfield Prep earned a 30-17 win over Xavier.
Tyler Smith was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes. Fairfield Prep also got help from Finbar Malloy who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Fairfield Prep's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Mason Frey was especially locked on to Xavier's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame had to suffer through a rough 46-6 loss at the hands of West Haven. While losing is never fun, Notre Dame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while West Haven is ranked fifth).
Fairfield Prep's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Notre Dame, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Fairfield Prep beat Notre Dame 14-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairfield Prep since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
