Lexington Catholic is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to take on the Lafayette Generals at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lexington Catholic will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Ballard, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Lexington Catholic came out on top against Ballard by a score of 9-4 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Abby Hammond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Katie Prisinzano was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Ford, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lafayette is still undefeated this season after their game against Ballard on Wednesday, but Ballard came as close as anyone has to beating them. Lafayette came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Ballard. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Generals have posted since April 27, 2024.
Rylan Music made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Music was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynna Harris, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Kierstyn Kelley was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Lexington Catholic's record now sits at 3-4. As for Lafayette, their record is now 8-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Lexington Catholic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lexington Catholic took their victory against Lafayette when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. Does Lexington Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lafayette turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
