Archbishop Molloy is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while St. Dominic is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Stanners will host the Bayhawks at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Archbishop Molloy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Holy Cross on Wednesday. The Stanners' pitchers stepped up to hand the Knights a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Stanners in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won nine in a row.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, St. Dominic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Xaverian on Saturday. The Bayhawks put the hurt on the Clippers with a sharp 16-6 win. The Bayhawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Tyler Camastro looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, Ray Kim was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March. Chris Vangelatos was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
St. Dominic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Xaverian only posted an OBP of .407.
St. Dominic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Molloy, their win bumped their record up to 22-5-1.
Archbishop Molloy couldn't quite get it done against St. Dominic in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 5-0. Can the Stanners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
