The East Mountain Timberwolves will challenge the Moriarty Pintos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, East Mountain came up short against Rio Grande and fell 7-4. The contest marked the Timberwolves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Luke Stoerner was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Stoerner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Charles Birdwell made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Birdwell is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Ryan Moorhead was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Moriarty had lost two consecutive heartbreakers to Bernalillo and they left with a heavy heart again on Saturday. The Pintos fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 8-7. The Pintos haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Trey Denomme was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. Those triples were his first of the season.
Moriarty's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for East Mountain, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Moriarty struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Mountain got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Moriarty by a conclusive 14-3 score. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Pintos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
