Perry is 8-1 against Cory-Rawson since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Commodores will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fighting Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Jackson Center hit Perry with a eight-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Commodores fell 10-5 to the Tigers.
Wesley Woods was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Colten Scott was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Wyatt Taviano was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Cory-Rawson had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Waynesfield-Goshen 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Hornets have posted since May 16, 2025.
Wesley Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Inbody, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Moon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Cory-Rawson's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Perry, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Cory-Rawson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Perry has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Cory-Rawson, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Perry's hitters?
Everything went Perry's way against Cory-Rawson in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Perry made off with a 12-1 victory. Do the Commodores have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
