The St. Pius X Panthers lost against the Village Vikings on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Pius X's tough 59-37 defeat to the Vikings might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, St. Pius X can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 734th, while the Vikings are ranked 293rd).
Village's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shaniya Williams, who scored 25 points along with five assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Village's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Rossini, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
St. Pius X dropped their record down to 15-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Village, their win bumped their record up to 21-10.
St. Pius X will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Village, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Incarnate Word Academy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
