They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Windham Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Thornton Academy's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Windham's offense will have their work cut out for Windham.
Thornton Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 27 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 78-18 win over Noble at home. Given Thornton Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Noble is ranked 85th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Windham sidestepped Westbrook for a 32-30 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Windham.
Thornton Academy's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Windham, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Thornton Academy beat Windham 55-43 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thornton Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
