The Southwestern Rebels's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past Shawe Memorial with a 44-40 win. For Southwestern, this counts as revenge for the 63-61 loss Shawe Memorial walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Ashley Fulton was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. The match was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rorie Scroggins, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Southwestern is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Shawe Memorial, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-6 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwestern will challenge Medora at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Jenna Bowers and Fulton. As for Shawe Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against South Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South Ripley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
