The Prentiss Christian Saints will take on the Hillcrest Christian Cougars at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Prentiss Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Prentiss Christian had to suffer through a rough 64-36 loss at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, Prentiss Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Lions are ranked 120th).
Meanwhile, Hillcrest Christian had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They blew past Prairie View Academy 81-17 on the road. Hillcrest Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Darius Barnes and Ryan Bradley were among the main playmakers for Hillcrest Christian as the former scored 16 points along with five steals and the latter scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. It was the first time this season that Barnes scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Battle, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Prentiss Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Hillcrest Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 19 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
