The Sylmar Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They took down Reseda 77-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Sylmar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriel Sidon, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sidon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Christian Ramos, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Sylmar's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Reseda, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Sylmar will look to defend their home court on Friday against Panorama at 6:00 p.m. Panorama will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1336th, while Sylmar is ranked 626th). As for Reseda, they will head out on the road to square off against San Fernando at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. San Fernando is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
