Ellensburg is 1-9 against Ephrata since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Tigers at 3:00 p.m. Ellensburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Ellensburg is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since April 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Othello. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Miley Porter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ellensburg's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Carlson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ava Stueckle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Ephrata came tearing into Thursday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Jackrabbits a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ephrata's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ellensburg, their record now sits at 11-8-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ellensburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Ephrata struggles in that department as they've averaged .427. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ellensburg came up short against Ephrata in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-5. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
