Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Seventy-First

Seventy-First waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 64-42 margin over the Jack Britt Buccaneers. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 397th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seventy-First's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but DeAndre Nance led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Nance has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Staples, who scored ten points and six rebounds.

Seventy-First smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Jack Britt's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DeRyian Mitchell, who had 11 points. Mitchell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Dominic Royer was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Seventy-First's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Jack Britt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Seventy-First wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-51 victory against South View on the 5th. As for Jack Britt, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-41 win against Scotland on the 5th.
