AAAA Region III recap October 29, 2013
Northwestern extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region III this week by beating York, 45-15. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Trojans.
Nation Ford and Rock Hill played the most contested game in the league this week, with Nation Ford eventually emerging with a 26-21 victory. Dalton Helms threw for 304 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 34 yards during the win.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Falcons' Helms and Brandon Cureton have proven to be a lethal combination. Helms has thrown for 2,480 yards this season, while Cureton has 52 catches for 1,069 yards. Josh Brice from South Pointe leads the league in rushing with 620 yards.
The most important game in AAAA Region III this week will be the match up between the Stallions and the Cougars. South Pointe enters the game ranked 11th in the state, while York ranks fifth.
The league will see a high scoring game when Nation Ford and Northwestern face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Michael Allen's team comes in having scored 264 this season, while Kyle Richardson's team has scored 306. The Falcons scored 26 points last week as they bested the Bearcats.
Strait Herron's team took down Clover 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
