American hasn't had much luck against Moreau Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. American lost 18-6 to Kennedy on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 12 runs.
American saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amber Hillman, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double. Another was Jaylynn Rice, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic made easy work of Mission San Jose on Thursday and carried off a 14-4 victory. The Mariners haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Alyvia Sifuentes-Parker and Yazlin Rodrigues made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Sifuentes-Parker pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Rodrigues pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Sifuentes-Parker a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Sifuentes-Parker went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Rodrigues went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Rodrigues has hit this season.
In other batting news, Moreau Catholic got a massive performance out of Mia Burrell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Burrell a new career-high. Lexi Mejia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Moreau Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
American's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Moreau Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
American's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Moreau Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will American continue to outrun the ball?
American suffered a grim 17-6 defeat to Moreau Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
