The Avon Pirates will square off against the Scotland/Menno Trappers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Avon put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Wagner as they made off with a 16-4 victory. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Macy Voigt was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Voigt was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Pria Sessler and Rilyn Thury did most of the damage at the plate: Sessler got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Thury scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Rowan Brandt, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Avon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wagner only posted a batting average of .211.
Meanwhile, Scotland/Menno didn't have quite enough to beat Bon Homme on Monday and fell 11-10.
Amanda Rames made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Robb, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Avon now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Scotland/Menno, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
