The Onalaska Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Jasper by a score of 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Onalaska's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Johnny Byrd, who scored 19 points. Byrd scored a full 27.9% of Onalaska's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dante Leleux, who scored 13 points.
Onalaska's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Jasper, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Onalaska's road trip will continue as they head out to face Vidor at 8:00 a.m. on December 9th. As for Jasper, they will take on Evadale at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Evadale knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Jasper likes a good challenge.
