Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Northern Highlands Highlanders walked away with it. They snuck past Ridge with a 31-26 win on Friday. The win was familiar territory for Northern Highlands who now have five in a row.
It was another big night for Nate Johnson, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Freddie Kanning also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Olivo. Despite the final result, he rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Northern Highlands has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Ridge, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.
Northern Highlands will face off against Ramapo at TBD on Friday. Ramapo is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
