The Trenton Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Whitewright Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Trenton and five for Whitewright.
Trenton suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Honey Grove 51-16. While losing is never fun, Trenton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1218th, while Honey Grove is ranked 435th).
Meanwhile, Whitewright lost to Tom Bean on the road by a decisive 45-31 margin on Tuesday.
Trenton dropped their record down to 7-14 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.5 points per game. As for Whitewright, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Trenton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Whitewright in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 29-24 victory.
