Academic Magnet is a perfect 4-0 against Stall since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Academic Magnet Raptors will venture away from home to challenge the Stall Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Academic Magnet had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Woodland on Tuesday. Academic Magnet was the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Woodland. The Raptors haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Revuelta Jose was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Jose was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.
In other batting news, Spann Andrew was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ivey Cole, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Academic Magnet always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Stall never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over North Charleston. The win was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Yohan Tolentino and Carter Ashley made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Tolentino tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ashley kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in hits (zero). At bat, Tolentino went 1-for-3 with three RBI, while Ashley scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Tolentino a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Dominic Stewart was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Yan Tolentino, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Academic Magnet picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Stall, their record is now 1-0.
