The Kingman Academy Tigers will head out to square off against the Parker Broncs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Kingman Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Kingman Academy made easy work of Highland Prep West and carried off a 10-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Baylor Short made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Short was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Rilee Otto was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cormac Cone was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Kingman Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Parker came into Monday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mohave Accelerated 8-6.
Like Kingman Academy, Parker also got a great game from a two-way player: Maddix Young. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Young was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oscar Ortega, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cesar Carasco, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Kingman Academy now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for Parker, their record now sits at 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kingman Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Parker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kingman Academy came up short against Parker in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Kingman Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
