Basketball Recap: Open Door Christian Academy Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Open Door Christian Academy Conquerors took a blow against the Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics Storm, falling 73-21. The game marked the Conquerors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Open Door Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landon Osborne posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Osborne is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Leading Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics to victory were Nehemiah Hackman and Isaac Lawrence. Hackman dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 13 boards, and ten steals, while Lawrence went 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points and five steals. Lawrence is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Quartemont, who put up eight points along with ten rebounds and five assists.

Open Door Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Open Door Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Christian Academy of Louisiana at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics, they will welcome Cornerstone Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 223 points over their last three contests.
