The Serra Catholic Eagles will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Apollo Ridge Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Serra Catholic will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Friday, Serra Catholic got themselves on the board against Ligonier Valley, but Ligonier Valley never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rams 47-0 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Serra Catholic just coasted through the last quarter.
Quadir Stribling had a dynamite game for Serra Catholic, throwing for 323 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Isiah Petty, who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Ligonier Valley to a paltry 116 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Serra Catholic's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Drew Hairston and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Apollo Ridge had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They really took it to Yough for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-20 victory at home.
Karter Schrock continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 167 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. Alex Wurmb was another key contributor, gaining 76 total yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Serra Catholic to 3-4 and Apollo Ridge to 2-6.
Serra Catholic came up short against Apollo Ridge when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 43-36. Thankfully for Serra Catholic, Nick Curci (who rushed for 338 yards and five touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
