Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Northbridge walked away with it. They blew past the Millbury Woolies 49-20 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Northbridge was led to victory by Morodney Daigle and Joel Lachapelle. Daigle rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry, while Lachapelle rushed for 85 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. Those 220 rushing yards gave Daigle a new career-high.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Northbridge proved: they limited Millbury to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The Rams didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.

When it comes to explaining why Millbury lost, don't look at Matteus Mateo. Despite the final result, he rushed for 58 yards and one TD, and also threw for 201 yards and one touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (82 yards to be exact) went to Cole Guilford.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Northbridge, bringing their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.3 points on average over those games. As for Millbury, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Northbridge and Millbury are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rams will square off against Cohasset at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northbridge will need to watch out since the Skippers have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. As for Millbury, after each having a week off, they and Oxford will shake off the rust and duke it out at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th.
