The West Carteret Patriots will take on the Pisgah Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West Carteret 2, Pisgah 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Monday just wasn't the day for West Carteret's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Central on Monday. The Patriots have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Caitlin Dumarce was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Pisgah entered their tilt with Franklin on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They had just enough and edged out the Panthers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since May 2, 2024.
Sadie Messer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaiden Smith, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Alexis Markos was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Pisgah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in eight consecutive games.
Pisgah's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for West Carteret, their loss dropped their record down to 15-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Carteret has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pisgah struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
