If the Southold Settlers were feeling good off their 71-32 takedown of the Shelter Island Islanders two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southold took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smithtown Christian on Thursday. Southold has struggled against Smithtown Christian recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Smithtown Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lorenzo Crilly, who scored 21 points. Crilly hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Yuen, who scored 16 points.
Southold bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Smithtown Christian, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Shelter Island the next time they take the court. Southold will head out to face Shelter Island at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, while Smithtown Christian will host them at 6:15 p.m. on February 1st.
