The team relied heavily on Evie Martin, who fired off three home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah 'Spike' Pechart, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Eau Gallie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Astronaut only posted an OBP of .150.
Meanwhile, Montverde Academy made easy work of Highland on Monday and carried off an 11-1 victory.
Nevaeh Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Addison Poe was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kanora Diederichs was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Eau Gallie's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Montverde Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Eau Gallie hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Montverde Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Eau Gallie got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2017 against Montverde Academy by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Commodores repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
