After a string of seven wins, the Thomson Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Josey by a score of 53-50. The match was a 15-15 toss-up at halftime, but Thomson couldn't quite close it out.
When it comes to explaining why Thomson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jada Kendrick. Despite the final result, she scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Kendrick hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Rosser, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Josey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kerri Fluellen out in front who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Fluellen is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. KeAsia Henderson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists.
Thomson's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-3. As for Josey, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomson will take on Butler at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Butler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. Josey is on the road again on Friday and plays Putnam County at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Putnam County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Josey is ranked 29th).
