Softball Recap: Benson Starts Season with Win on the Road

Benson had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Desert Christian Eagles. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Benson got a massive performance out of Mandy Watson, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Watson has posted since back in March of 2024. Sadie Webb was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Desert Christian is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benson will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Bisbee at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Desert Christian, they will take on San Miguel at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Christian has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
